Massa Survives Death As Police Shoot At Ex-Cranes Captain

Police have explained circumstances under which Geoffrey Massa, the former Uganda Cranes Captain was shot at in the wee hours of Thursday.

In a statement issued this morning, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Emilian Kayima explains that Police patrol personnel saw a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser vehicle registration number UAY 627B parked at Namboole Flyover along the Kampala-Jinja highway at 3am and stopped to speak to the occupants.

He however, says that Massa, who was driving the vehicle, sped off and knocked a police motorcycle registration number UP 5134 raising suspicion. Kayima says in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the officers attempted to shoot the tyres and subsequently injured the lady who was travelling with Massa identified as Josephine Maliza.

He explains that Massa suddenly stopped and almost hit another vehicle and allegedly hit his forehead on the windscreen, sustaining injuries. He reportedly rushed to Gwatiro clinic in Bweyogerere, where he received medical attention.

According to Kayima, Maliza got treatment from the same clinic for the bullet wound. He explains that the reports from the medical teams handling the duo show that they are not in critical condition.
