Kampala Restaurant Week Attracts Over 40 Participants

Over 40 restaurants are participating in the 5th edition of the Kampala restaurant week that started off on 1st August 2019 and will go through 10th August 2019 showcasing difference dishes.

The week has been themed the “Three Course Edition” with casual dining and signature dining restaurants providing three-course offerings with starters, main courses and desserts.

At the official launch that was hosted by La Cabana Restaurant, Speke Apartments in Kampala on Wednesday evening,  Phillip Kalibwani from Pearl Guide, the Organiser of the restaurant week, said that the week see restaurants showcase what they offer.

“The Kampala Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for Kampala’s finest restaurants to show off what they have to offer. This will be our fifth edition allowing over 40 restaurants great exposure while bringing a fun dining experience for food lovers,” Kalibwani said.

He said that the week will be crowned with an award ceremony on 12th August 2019, to recognize the best restaurants, voted by the public online.

“…the ceremony will recognize restaurants with the “Best Dish,” “Outstanding Service” and “Overall top restaurant of the Week” voted for with a new system that allows the public to vote online,” he said.

Among the restaurants participating in the restaurant week includes Kabira Country Club, Tamarai, Javas, La Cabana, Munyonyo commonwealth, Asian Fusion and 7 hills among others.

Shrestha Nimes, the Manager at Speke Apartment in an interview said that after La Cabana that hosted the launch at Speke Apartment scooped the last top signature award in the previous restaurant week that took place a Hotel Africana, he is hopeful that it will win again in the 2019 restaurant week, citing its excellent services and unique menu.

“La Cabana Restaurant scooped the top signature dining restaurant award in the last Kampala Restaurant Week awards, we are hopeful to win this one too. We have excellent food and services, ” he said.

Cathy Twesigye, Tusker Lite’s brand manager said: “We are glad to partner with the Kampala Restaurant Week once again. You already know that any meal goes down well when paired with an ice cold Tusker Lite. We thank Kampala people for making Tusker Lite the beer of choice when having a meal, so, during the restaurant week, your first drink will be on us.”

Twesigye adds that participating restaurants across town will have starter meals and desserts for as low as Shs15,000, with the main course package priced at Shs25,000 and Shs35,000 for the casual dining and signature dining participants consecutively served with a complimentary Tusker Lite Beer.
