India’s celebrated spiritual leader His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has expressed interest to invest in Uganda especially in the field of Information Technology (IT).

“I am so happy that you have IT people but we can bring in experts from India to train these young people for between three to six months. As you know India is the hub of knowledge,” the globally revered spiritual and humanitarian leader said of his interest to work in Uganda.

Gurudev, who was born in 1956 in Southern India, revealed that in India 29 per cent of Indians are in IT industries and 33 percent of scientists are from India. “Even if you go to Europe, America, most of the IT companies are headed by Indians,” he boasted. And it is this expertise he wants to extend to Uganda.

“So we have people who can come here and train our young people for about six months. We need a place here to operate from. We request for a place for us, and then 50 to 200 youths can come and train the ones here and who will in turn, employ themselves,” Gurudev said.

The event hosted by Tripati Family last Wednesday was graced by former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who emphasized the strong cordial and historical relationship between Uganda and India.

The former premier asked His Holiness to encourage people from all over the world to come and invest in Uganda. “I request his holiness to use his position to mobilise Indians to come and invest in our country,” Rugunda said invitingly.

“The policy is simple, you come to Uganda, you have little or no money, within a few years, you make a lot of money. Of course, we are encouraging those who are coming to invest to come with money that will accelerate the rate of becoming richer. So in a nutshell, if you want to make money, come to Uganda.”

The Tirupati family that hosted the global spiritual leader led by Mr Miraj Barot, the Managing Manager of Tirupati Group, applauded His Holiness for accepting to come to Uganda and bless them.

Through a myriad of programs and teachings, a network of organizations including the Art of Living and the International Association for Human Values, and a rapidly growing presence across 156 countries, Gurudev has reached an estimated 500 million people.

Gurudev has developed unique, impactful programs that empower, equip and transform individuals to tackle challenges at global, national, community and individual levels.

Gurudev founded The Art of Living as an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization. Its educational and self-development programs offer powerful tools to eliminate stress and foster a sense of well-being. Appealing not only to a specific population, these practices have proven effective globally and at all levels of society.

In 1997, he also founded the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) to coordinate sustainable development projects, nurture human values and coordinate conflict resolution in association with The Art of Living. In India, Africa and South America, the two sister organizations’ volunteers are spearheading sustainable growth in rural communities, and have already reached out to 70,000 villages.
