Gov’t Will Continue To Give Youth Priority, Museveni Says As World Marks World Population Day

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has promised that the government will continue to give youth priority to empower them and improve their welfare.

Museveni made the remarks while giving his World Population Day speech on Saturday.

“I wish to inform you that the Government will continue to give priority to issues of our youth by empowering them so that they improve their welfare and contribute positively towards Uganda’s development,” Museveni said.

The theme for this year’s World Population Day, “Leveraging Uganda’s Population Dynamics for a Resilient Future amidst COVID-19”

On Friday, Museveni met with the Country Representative for the United Nations Population Fund, Mr Alain Sibenaler, and the officials of thr Population Secretariat at State House Entebbe.

“The concerns in regard to the quality and quantity of our populations, having been exacerbated the COVID-19 pandemic, only strengthen the need for governments to facilitate the process of creating a more productive, skilled, middle class as opposed to a consuming one,” Museveni said.
