Ramathan Ggoobi, Finance Ministry’s Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury

The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has started formulating the Budget Strategy for Fiscal Year 2022/2023 under the Theme: Industrialisation for Inclusive Growth, Employment and Wealth Creation.

According to Finance Ministry, Ramathan Ggoobi, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury, who is leading the process is very keen on ensuring that the planning aspect informs the budget.

“We have trained technical staff (Central and Local Governments) in preparation for the roll out of the Programmatic Approach in the FY 2022/2023 budget and beyond. Budgeting in line with the NDP III programmes is aimed at matching resources to results,” Finance Ministry said via its official Twitter handle.

It added: “This is an opportunity to eliminate underperforming programmes, inefficient service delivery as well as duplication. Rationalisation of Govt agencies and minimized creation of administrative units is in line with the Programmatic approach.”
