Gov’t Seeks Shs4.25 Trillion In Supplementary Budget

Government has tabled the third Supplementary budget for 2024/25 worth Shs4.255Trn to provide additional resources for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 preparations, payment of Roads contractors and fund operations of both the Army and Police.

The request was tabled by Henry Musasizi, Minister of State for Finance, prompting Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa to refer the proposal to Parliament’s Budget Committee for scrutiny, before a final decision is taken by Parliament.

“I beg to lay the supplementary expenditure schedule No.3 for 2024/25, amounting to Shs4.255Trn to cater for Government commitments and obligations, which include the following critical expenditure requirements- Outstanding certificates to road construction companies; security related expenditure under the Ministry of Defence and Uganda Police Force; African Cup of Nations 2027 related expenditure for completion of Hoima Stadium, construction of Aki-Bua Stadium, training facilities and operational expenses in preparation of AFCON,” said Minister Musasizi.
