Gov’t Hasn’t Agreed On Re-Opening of Schools-Education Ministry

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, Alex Kakooza (pictured) has said that Government has not yet agreed upon the re-opening of schools and Higher Institutions of learning for non -candidate classes.

“The public shall be informed when a decision is reached,” he said.

This comes after several media reports indicated that the re-opening of schools is set for February 2021.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in March 2020 ordered for the closure of all institutions of learning as one of the measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

However, in the final quarter of 2020,  government allowed schools to re-open for only  candidate classes.
