Together for financial inclusion: CEOs Giles Germany Aijukwe (Letshego Uganda), Richard Yego (MTN MoMo) and Charles Mudiwa (dfcu Bank Uganda) at the launch of the MoMo Agent Loans Marketplace at Protea Hotel, Kampala
dfcu Bank has today (December 1, 2025) announced a fundamental partnership with MTN MoMo Uganda and Letshego Uganda to launch two innovative digital loan products, reinforcing its commitment to empowering small businesses and driving financial inclusion.
The initiative, centered on the new dfcu Bank Weekend Agent Loan, provides immediate working capital to thousands of mobile money agents across Uganda, particularly during high-demand periods.
The collaboration, formalized under the expanded MoMo Agent Loans Marketplace, addresses a critical gap in access to flexible, collateral-free credit for agents who form the backbone of Uganda’s digital economy.
dfcu Bank’s specific product offers agents instant loans ranging from Ugx1million to Ugx5million every weekend, from Friday to Sunday, via a simple USSD process.
This ensures agents can maintain seamless service when transaction volumes peak and traditional banking services are limited, with repayment required within three days.
Speaking on the partnership, Charles Mudiwa, Chief Executive Officer of dfcu Bank, emphasized the alignment of this initiative with the bank’s longstanding mission to transform lives and businesses through digital innovation.
He noted that for years, dfcu has invested in deepening financial inclusion by supporting SMEs, expanding agent banking, and bolstering the digital financial ecosystem.

This partnership with MTN MoMo and Letshego, he stated, is a natural extension of that purpose, providing timely and reliable capital to keep essential agent businesses running and customers served.
Complementing dfcu Bank’s weekend-focused solution, Letshego Uganda provides the Agent Float Loan, a short-term facility available throughout the week, offering agents further flexibility.
Giles Germany Aijukwe, Chief Executive Officer of Letshego Uganda, highlighted the partnership’s role in unlocking fast and reliable working capital for everyday entrepreneurs, keeping their businesses active without interruption.

MTN MoMo Uganda serves as the foundational platform, integrating both loan products into its USSD menu. Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer for MTN MoMo Uganda, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to strengthening financial inclusion and giving agents the power to do more through such collaborative solutions.
The tripartite agreement represents a shared vision among the institutions to enhance financial resilience for entrepreneurs.
By simplifying access to instant credit, the partnership equips mobile money agents with the necessary tools to manage liquidity, meet customer demand without interruption, and contribute to the nation’s advancing digital inclusion agenda.
