COVID-19 Crisis: Gov’t Has So Far Mobilized Shs28bn From Ugandans, Companies

The National Covid19 Task Force has so far mobilized Shs28bn in cash and in kind from Ugandans and companies, Prime Minister Livingstone Ruhakana Rugunda (pictured) has revealed.

The Premier told Parliament yesterday that so far 65 vehicles have been donated to the Fund with 45 of the donated vehicles already deployed in various districts.

He reiterated that the target of the Fund is to raise Shs170bn and 10 vehicles for each district.

He added that items noted include assorted food items, medical supplies and non-food items.

Rugunda said over 1.5 million people have been given food relief in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, hospitals and orphanages.

He added that the food given out was of good quality as passed by Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS). He however said they are currently investigating allegations of poor quality food.
