After distractions of the opening ceremonies yesterday, the Copa Coca-Cola schools cup returns in full swing today with 26 games lined up.
It’s a matter of making things that went wrong in the first game right for 9-time winners St Mary’s SS Kitende, who have lost the previous two finals.
On Sunday, they also faltered in a 1-1 draw with a less fancied Kawempe Muslim.
With dancing midfielder Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesige and Robert Kitabarwa out with the national U20 team that plays Cameroon in the Africa Nations qualifiers on Saturday, assistant coach Ronald Ssali looks up to sensational Ivan Ashaba to come in handy especially in the creative roles when Kitende plays Lango’s Mentor SS.
Hosts Mbarara High School, who have impressed so far with two solid wins, face a decimated Blessed Sacrament Kimaanya, who were left bare after a tough screening exercise. The hosts aim at making three out of three although numbers may not matter in the case of Kimaanya who have always presented tough teams.
There could be an upset on cards too as Mpigi’s Hope SS, who denied perennial campaigners and UMEA cup champions Bulo Parents, host Kawempe SS.
Games kick off at 9 a.m with the last batch of games at 4 p.m.
