Animal Theft Is A Highly Formalized Enterprise In Sembabule & Lyantonde -Tumwebaze

Frank K. Tumwebaze (pictured), the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries has lashed out at some Government officials for insecurity in farming communities and not caring about issues that affect ordinary Ugandans.

The made the revelation via his official Twitter handle while responding to Dicksons C. Kateshumbwa, the Sheema Municipality MP,  who called on the  designers of Parish Development Model to “seriously consider adding the 8th pillar – Security.”

“Having a robust security mechanism at a Parish level will safeguard investments within parishes. People are already having challenges,” Kateshumbwa said.

In response, Tumwebaze said another Pillar is not the issue.

“We have so many pillars and papers. It’s the negligence of the government officials. I was in most districts last month, vaccines are being stolen by some vets, some officials of (

@PoliceUg, RDcs & Disos ) don’t care at all about wanainchi issues,” Tumwebaze said.

He gave an example of Sembabule and Lyantonde where  “animal theft is a highly formalised enterprise.”

“Wanainchi know thieves who come confidently & even slaughter the stolen animals at farms.. When these fellows are arrested the cartels sorts them out at CID & STATE ATTORNEY offices. Evidence is killed,” Tumwebaze said.

He notes that “this is a war we all need to collectively fight.  And as leaders ( Ministers , MPs ) we need to regularly go to the field and get feedback. We need to act more & end this culture of negligence among officials trusted with public responsibility. I feel bad about it.”
