A Season of Real Magic: Coca-Cola Takes Christmas Cheer Across Uganda

Officials flag off the caravan from Railway Grounds on Dec. 3

As the year draws to a close and the festive season approaches, corporate firms and organisations often roll out customer-centric campaigns aimed at giving back to their communities, strengthening relationships with consumers and reinforcing their brands for growth and continuity.

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda is the latest to do so in Uganda. On December 3rd, at the Railway Grounds in Kampala, the company made a colourful and vibrant launch of its nationwide festive campaign, the Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, setting the tone for a season of joy, connection and celebration across the country.

Usually, December in Uganda is a time of warmth and togetherness. Families begin their journeys back to ancestral homes in the villages, churches fill with Christmas carols, and communities prepare for days of shared meals, laughter and thanksgiving.

It is a season defined by reunion, generosity and gratitude. Across towns and villages, the festive mood is visible in simple yet meaningful acts – neighbours sharing food, friends reconnecting after months apart and homes opening their doors to welcome loved ones. It is a time that brings people closer and reminds everyone of the happiness found in being together.

It is within this cherished tradition that Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda officially launched the Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, a nationwide tour that will run throughout the festive season, spreading cheer from one community to another.

Officials said, the caravan is designed to travel across the country, bringing with it music, entertainment, refreshments and a lively atmosphere that reflects the simple joys of a Ugandan Christmas.

Each stop along the route is intended to create a magical moment where people can pause from their busy schedules and fully embrace the spirit of the season with family, friends and neighbours.

Through this campaign, CCBU is taking the Christmas experience beyond traditional spaces and bringing it directly to the people. The aim is to create memorable experiences in communities, allowing families and friends to come together and celebrate in a warm and festive environment. Speaking at the launch, Emmy Hashakimana, the Managing Director of Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, a company in the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa group, said Christmas holds a special place in the hearts of Ugandans because it is a time for togetherness, gratitude and shared moments that truly matter.

He explained that through the Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, the company intends to be part of those priceless moments by bringing joy and refreshment closer to consumers wherever they may be.

At every stop, the caravan will offer live local entertainment, interactive activities, family-friendly games and a variety of surprise experiences. Communities will also benefit from instant giveaways, including food items such as matooke and live chicken, as well as branded merchandise like T-shirts. These gestures are meant to foster real connections with consumers and make the celebrations more meaningful for everyone involved.

Kirunda Magoola, Head of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability at CCBU, described the campaign as a heartfelt appreciation to the company’s loyal consumers.

He noted that customers have supported the brand throughout the year, and the festive season provides an opportunity for CCBU to celebrate with them, express gratitude and share in the joy that defines Christmas in Uganda.

Along its route, the Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan will activate key towns with themed festivities, product engagements and community-centred experiences designed to leave lasting memories for both young and old.

Beyond the entertainment, the initiative also strengthens the spirit of unity that defines the season and contributes to the vibrancy and economic activity that accompany Christmas celebrations across the country, officials said.
