Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, is delighted to announce the expansion of its nationwide network of Shell service stations with the commissioning of 10 additional stations this year. This development brings the total number of Shell service stations in Uganda to 191, reaffirming the company’s commitment to making its world-class fuels and services more accessible across the country.
The official launch of the new stations, alongside Shell’s refreshed brand identity, showcasing the brand’s updated and modernised visual identity, took place at the newly constructed Shell Kitetika along Gayaza road, with other flagship locations including Shell Kitemu and Shell Masanafu.
Maintaining the iconic yellow, red, and white colour scheme, Shell’s updated design introduces contemporary elements designed to transform Shell stations into more welcoming, customer-focused destinations that cater to the needs of today’s travellers. The new design incorporates innovative elements that not only elevate its look but also enhance the overall customer experience. These improvements reflect Shell’s dedication to providing convenient and efficient solutions for motorists and their vehicles.
Mr. Stan Mittelman, Chief Executive Officer of Vivo Energy, said, “The expansion of our Shell network in Uganda with 10 new service stations reflects Vivo Energy’s commitment to investing in the growth of our business and delivering greater convenience for our customers. This milestone comes during a transformative year for Vivo Energy, marked by our acquisition of the Engen business earlier this year, taking us to around 4,000 service stations across 28 African markets. We remain focused on providing world-class products and services while strengthening our presence to support the journeys of our customers across Africa.”
Mr. Hans Paulsen, the Executive Vice President (East) of Vivo Energy, added, “Shell’s new visual identity is more than a refreshed look; it is a testament to our global mission of meeting our customers’ evolving needs. Whether you are fuelling up for a hybrid workday, stopping by for a moment of relaxation, or purchasing daily essentials, we are your trusted partner, making every journey smoother and more fulfilling. Our promise, ‘Whoever your journeys are for,’ reflects our unwavering dedication to delivering world-class experiences in a dynamic, ever-changing world.”
As a significant highlight of the event, Vivo Energy Uganda launched comprehensive CCTV coverage across all its service stations, powered by advanced data connectivity solutions provided by MTN Uganda. This groundbreaking partnership ensures enhanced safety and security for customers and staff by offering standardised, cloud-based CCTV systems. With footage stored for a minimum of 90 days, the system enables real-time monitoring, playback, and streamlined investigations, reinforcing Shell’s commitment to maintaining a secure and reliable environment.
Ms. Sylvia Mulinge, the CEO of MTN Uganda said, ““MTN Uganda is proud to partner with Vivo Energy Uganda to enhance security at Shell service stations nationwide through the MTN Smart Eyes for Enterprise solution. This cloud-based CCTV system enables remote monitoring of over 100 sites via a centralized platform, offering simplified management, intelligent storage, and 90-day footage access. With real-time oversight via web links or mobile apps, Vivo Energy Uganda benefits from a streamlined, secure, and digitized approach to operations.”
The partnership with MTN Uganda to implement the CCTV initiative underscores Vivo Energy Uganda’s commitment to innovation and safety. The system, covering 90% of Shell stations to date, will be fully operational across the entire network by the end of December 2024. This robust solution enhances operational efficiency and builds confidence among customers by providing a secure environment.
