Equity Bank Uganda has opened a new retail branch in Paidha, bringing the Bank’s nationwide footprint to 50 branches, in line with sustained efforts to increase access to banking services to customers in Uganda.
Located in Paidha town, along Nebbi-Zombo Road, the new branch will serve as an advisory centre for retail customers, SMEs and corporate as well as double up as a banking hall facilitating deposits, withdrawals, access to credit facilities and further deepening access to financial services to the population in the West Nile region and across the border both in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic Congo.

Equity Bank Paidha Branch adds to the existing branches in Arua and Adjumani, in the West Nile region, which is known to connect business entrepreneurs and traders across the borders with Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan and which, also hosts several travellers from across the East Africa region.
Other than enjoying access to the banking hall which shall be open six days a week, both retail customers and businesses now have access to a well-equipped and well- staffed branch which will allow them to save, borrow and invest thus improving their lives and livelihoods.
The opening of the new branch reinforces Equity’s promise to offer integrated financial services that socially and economically empower its customers and help in financial deepening and inclusion of the unbanked population in the mainstream banking services.
Equity Bank has over the years responded to the need for financial inclusion through expansion of its brick-and-mortar outlets and innovation like agent banking (Equiduuka) and account opening USSD code.
The opening of Equity Bank Paidha branch is also part of Equity’s strategy to offer world-class, dynamic, and diverse services to its customer base. The bank offers a basket of tools, products, and services under one roof ranging from banking, insurance, FX trading and investment.
The bank’s expansion to now 50 branches is supported by a steady growth over the last 14 years becoming the 6th largest bank in Uganda, with a balance sheet of UGX2.818 trillion. It is also the third (3rd) largest bank by lending and fifth (5th) largest by deposits.
Riding on this strong deposit foundation, Equity last year upped its lending by 22.4 percent, from UGX1.261 trillion to UGX1.544 trillion.
The 50 branches are supported by over 7000 Equiduuka agents, over 6000 merchants and 50 ATMs spread across the country serving over 1.5 million customers.
