The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has partnered with the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) to conduct a joint general cleaning exercise of the Kawempe Specialised National Referral Hospital as part of an effort to promote the spirit of voluntarism in the country’s corporate culture.
The event is slated to take place on 25th May 2019, starting at 10am. PR practitioners from some of the leading public and private organisations shall be conducting the cleaning exercise.
According to Sarah Kagingo the PRAU President, PR practitioners are often called upon to provide insights on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that their respective organisations should take on.
“Kawempe Specialised National Referral Hospital provides maternal and neonatal health services. We are happy to provide support to such a facility that is critical to the health and well-being of the children and women of Uganda,” says Kagingo.
As part of the exercise, PRAU members shall also be joined by gallant officers and men of the UPDF. The PRAU President notes that the UPDF is a critical partner in this effort as they are at the forefront of safeguarding Ugandans, have been involved in several cleaning exercises and are often among the first responders in case of emergencies.
“As UPDF, we look forward to this partnership with PRAU, and this engagement will be yet another opportunity to renew UPDF commitment to serve the people of Uganda,” says Brigadier Richard Karemire, Defence Spokesperson. The Hospital Clean-Up event is the first of its kind between PRAU and UPDF.
