By Aloysious Kasoma

Makerere University Lecturer and Budget and Financing expert Barbra Katende has advised women doing business to up their game by branding their businesses well.

Katende, a mentor made the remarks on Wednesday as chief guest at the dfcu Women in Business

(WiB) Financial Literacy workshop held at Biraj Hotel, Nakasero.

The workshop was organized in commemoration of the International Women’s Day celebrated on March8.

“Women fear registering their businesses, this fails the business to move forward. Someone will see the opportunity and will go and register your business as his or hers,” Katende said, adding: “Before you build a business, you will need to build 3 networks, the operational network, personal and strategic.”

Katende advised women to take advantage of the investment clubs and WiB advisory workshops. She added that women should stop expecting much support from their men and the government.

Over 400 women in trade and agribusiness are set to benefit from these sessions to be held in Kampala, Gulu and Mbarara.

Victoria Byenkya, the Manager of dfcu’s WiB said that they have seen significant growth in the programme, with over 30,000 registered members currently.
