Victoria University has appointed Basketball legend Flavia ‘Flirsh’ Oketcho as the new Dean of Students.
Oketcho, now at JKL Lady Dolphins, is the most decorated basketball player and also doubles the Gazelles captain.
Victoria University, opened in August 2013, is one of fast growing Private Universities in Uganda.
At VU, she brings a wealth of knowledge to improve the students welfare. She will be expected to boost the sports activities at the Ruparelia-owned University.
Who is Flavia Oketcho?
Commonly known as Flirsh in the basketball circles, Oketcho came to prominence when she broke through at Lady Bucks in 2001.
The former Kitante Hill and Makerere College student has won league titles with Lady Bucks, UCU Lady Canons, KCCA Leopards and JKL Lady Dolphins.
She was instrumental as Uganda qualified and played at the 2015 FIBA Afrobasket Women in Cameroon.
Off the court, Flirsh who graduated with a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication (Majoring in Marketing and PR), is an entrepreneur, TV Presenter, Marketing consultant among others.
