URA Surpasses Shs1.3 Trillion November Revenue Collection Target

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) collected total tax revenue of Shs1.32 trillion in November 2018 against a target of Shs1.30 trillion, registering a gross surplus of Shs17.75 billion.

According to information obtained from URA, net revenue collection for the month of November 2018 totaled to Shs1.303 trillion against a target of Shs1.288 trillion hence a net surplus of Shs15.18 billion.

Gross collections from Domestic Taxes amounted to Shs754.9 billion against a target of UGX 714.6 billion, registering a surplus of Shs36.5 billion.

Direct Domestic Taxes (PAYE, Corporation Tax, Individual income tax, Withholding tax and Rental income tax) performed at 114.51%, URA said, while Non Tax Revenue Collections performed at 111.43 %, registering a surplus of Shs5.9 billion.

URA says a comparison of net cumulative revenue performance as at November 2018 with that of November 2017 shows an absolute increase of Shs997.7 billion, representing an increase of 18.60%.

Doris Akol (in featured photo), the URA Commissioner General, who started her second four-year term on at the tax body on November1, 2018, together with her team, has come up with several measures aimed at increasing tax compliance and revenue collections.

URA is expected to collect tax revenue amounting to Shs16.3 trillion in 2018/19.
