URA Boss Musinguzi Elected Member Of African Tax Administration Forum Council

The Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), John R. Musinguzi has been elected as a member of the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) Council for the period 2020-2022 by the 6th  ATAF General Assembly.

This is a big milestone for the URA boss considering the fact that he has been in office as CG for only seven months.

ATAF serves as an African network that aims at improving tax systems in Africa through exchanges, knowledge dissemination, capacity development and active contribution to the regional and global tax agenda.

According to ATAF, Improved tax systems will increase accountability of the State to its citizens, enhance domestic resource mobilisation and thereby foster inclusive economic growth.

Currently, ATAF is headed by Philippe Tchodie as Chairperson. Tchodie is the Commissioner General of Togolese tax body.

Until his appointment as URA boss on March29, 2020, Musinguzi was the Senior Presidential Adviser, Investment and ICT.

 He was also the Chairperson of the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) Board of Directors.

Musinguzi previously served URA’s Special Revenue Protection Services as Head, Finance and Audit.

Born 46 years ago in Rushere village in Kiruhura District, Musinguzi holds a Master’s degree in Computing and Information Systems from the University of Greenwich and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Makerere University.
