Uganda Breweries Limited Friday afternoon launched Diageo One App In Uganda.

The App is a convenient way for UBL customers such as stockists, distributors and bars among others to order for UBL products and get them in at least in 24 hours. Now on Play Store and App Store, UBL Sales Director Ben Mbuvi said the innovation is a lesson from the Covid-19 lockdown.

“It was very hard to get new customers. We noticed we needed to interact in the digital space,” Mbuvi recalled UBL’s journey to launching Diageo One App.

While launching the App at Serena Hotel in Kampala, UBL Managing Director, Andrew Kilonzo said that the App will connect “our business customers to the nearest UBL distributor based on the location of their outlets.”

“It will also connect them to the brewery headquarter for promotions and brand information,” Kilonzo added.

According to Kilonzo, the future of business is the need to ensure that “you are effective and efficient.”

“We are introducing an innovation that offers an opportunity for you (our business customers) to interact with our brands remotely,” Kilonzo noted, adding, “We are looking to facilitate innovation that is going to make us convenient and efficient.”

The business customers will be able to participate in loyalty programs by earning reward points made available to them on every purchase made.

Since its unveiling about three months ago, at least 300 out of 500 UBL distributors across the country have come on board with 60% of them making repurchases.

With the launch, Uganda becomes the third African country to go digital on Diageo after Kenya and Ghana.
