Uganda Boxing Federation Wants Govt To Lift Ban On Playing Boxing In Schools

The plea has been made by the president of the boxing Federation Moses Muhangi while appearing before parliaments ad-hoc committee.

Muhangi informed the MPs that for 30 years now, the sport has been suspended in schools without a clear reason.

Muhangi says that recently the former minister of sports Dennis Obua also emphasized the ban and he informed them he was still investigating the safety of the sport in schools.

Muhangi says that as the federation they will willing to sit with government to clarify on the safety measures they have for children in schools saying that Uganda is the only country that banned the sport in schools.

He says that they are willing to work with government and show them the safety measures in place for the sport saying that if the sport is not reinstated they are going to continue to rely on only Ghetto people who aren’t enough to sustain the sport.
