Tumwebaze To Prioritize Fight Against Fake Seeds, Acaricides On Ugandan Market

Frank K Tumwebaze (pictured), the newly appointed Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (designate) has assured stakeholders that as soon as he officially assumes office, he will start by addressing the rampant Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), fake acaracides and seeds on the market.

Taking to his twitter handle, Tumwebaze said since Cabinet announcement on Monday, he has been having intense conversations with many people, all raising concerns mainly about FMD, efficacy/potency of acaracides and quality seeds on the market.

“My assurance to u all is that as soon as I take office, I shall cause a stakeholder dialogue & we candidly talk about these issues. My conviction is that all those issues can be fixed if we all cooperate. If all stakeholders can define the problem correctly & appreciate it in the same way then solutions will be got,” Tumwebaze said.

He also thanked Ugandans for expressing confidence in him, promising to give this new docket his “whole & full attention.”

Tumwebaze has served in various capacities including being Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development and Minister for ICT & National Guidance among others.
