Tumwebaze To Besigye; Stop Cheap Politicking

Uganda’s Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Frank Tumwebaze has hit out at the country’s opposition figure, Kizza Besigye urging him to drop what he terms ‘cheap politicking.’

Tumwebaze made the remarks on micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Thursday after Besigye had claimed that Kyadondo East lawmaker, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine had been targeted for murder and that he (Besigye) was to be blamed.

“What was to happen in Arua was to kill and arrest Besigye immediately for the death. It was a comprehensive plan. Fortunately there is a God above stronger than all these evil forces but non the less, someone is in his grave,” Besigye said a press conference on Thursday.

However, Tumwebaze replied, “But honestly why don’t you out grow this cheap politicking. Why have you never been killed over all these years of your political theatrics and then it’s of days ago to be targeted for murder? You can do better and gain more credibility.”

In August, the electoral process to elect the Arua Municipality lawmaker was marred by violence that left Bobi Wine’s brother, Yasin Kawuma dead and a number of people arrested and injured.
