Uganda’s government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has asked the public to disregard statements made by the country’s police in relation to the probe into the Bank Of Uganda procurement saga.
Ofwono made the remarks on Tuesday at the Uganda Media Centre during a press conference saying Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga lied when he revealed that the force raided the homes of BoU officials over the matter.
Enanga added that the investigation was looking into the possibility that extra cash was involved in the consignment under probe.
Owfono says finding out whether there was ‘extra cash’ is not part of the investigation carried out by the State House Anti-corruption unit.
“The flight was chartered from Paris to Entebbe. The investigation is on why did they put extra luggage? The investigation is not on extra cash,” Ofwono said.
