Tanga Odoi Likens Muntu’s Newly Launched ANT Party To An NGO

Dr. Tanga Odoi, the outspoken the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Electoral Commission Chairman has described the newly launched Alliance for National Transformation party (ANT) headed by Mugisha Muntu as a Non Government Organisation (NGO) that can easily capture power from incumbent President Yoweri Museveni.

While addressing journalists at NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo to  announce the road map for the party primaries for election of the flag bearer for the by election of the of Nebbi District chairperson, Odoi (in featured photo) likened leaders in Muntu’s party to Civil society members whose work is only talk, warning Muntu will wait for ages to capture power in Uganda.

“As People Power is fizzling out, NRM is gaining strength after strength. There is also a Non Government Organisation which has also come up called ANT. That cosmetic party will wait for more years. ANT, the behaviour of their leaders, they’re very good leaders, they’re like leaders of NGO, we wish them well as NRM but they will wait longer to capture power,” Odoi said.

The Nebbi District Chairperson seat fell vacant last September after Esrom William, the then district chairperson perished in an accident.

It should be recalled that last week Gen. Mugisha Muntu, who broke ties with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) after losing his Presidency to Patrick Amuriat held the official launch for his party, Alliance for National Transformation that saw politicians from different political groupings gather at Kampala Serena Hotel to witness the anticipated ceremony.

Muntu used the occasion to unveil the team he is going to work with ahead of the 2021 general elections as well as open doors for other Ugandans to join the party.
