A security guard in the Ugandan capital, Kampala has shot dead a businessman.
Arnold Aine Mugisha, one of the owners of Hickory Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, an upscale suburb in the city, was reportedly shot dead by the security guard (not yet identified) at Quality Supermarket, Naalya.
Reports indicate that the incident happened after Aine reportedly hit another car with a shopping trolley and refused to stop when asked to.
An altercation ensued between the two leading to the tragic incident.
Following the shooting, the guard was attacked by a mob who unleashed beatings on him and was only saved by the police.
He is reportedly detained at Kira Road Police Station.
There has been an outpouring of grief on social media sites with many condemning the act and mourning the deceased.
However, in an audio circulating online, a witness claims when Aine was told to wait for the owner of the car so they can sort out the problem.
The witness goes on to claim that Aine got into his car and tried to drive off, crashing the security guard’s leg in the process.
It is at this time, the witness claims that another security guard opened fire on Aine.
The body of Arnold has since been taken to the KCCA Mortuary in Mulago.
