Polls Start In Local Government Councils By-Elections

Polling in by-elections to fill two hundred and one (201) vacant Chairperson and Councillor positions in various Local Government Councils countrywide takes place today, Thursday 16th December 2021. 

According to Electoral Commission Spokesperson, Paul Bukenya, the vacant positions include the District (LC.V) Chairperson, Kayunga, and 19 LC III Chairpersons in various affected electoral areas. 

“We have already delivered voting materials to the affected electoral areas. Voting will take place at all polling stations in the affected electoral areas starting at 7am and ending at 4pm,” he says, adding: “Thereafter, the counting of votes and declaration of results will take place.”

He urged voters in the affected areas to turn up and cast their vote in large numbers in strict observance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health.
