Parliament Adopts Motion Compelling Gov’t To Offer Free Water, Electricity To Ugandans For 6 Months

Parliament has today passed and adopted a motion asking Government to Provide a Waiver on Payment of Water and Electricity for a period of six months as the COVID-19 Lockdown continues to bite.

The motion was tabled by Masaka Municipality MP, Mathias Mpuuga, who noted that aid that government has not made attempts to relieve the poor people from paying heavy power and water bills during this COVID-19 Pandemic.

Tororo North County lawmaker,  Fredrick Angura said that the Ugandans need to be supported with incentives to offset utility bills like power and water.

Nyabusozi county member of parliament Col.Fred Mwesigye urged the government to allocate funds for the extension of safe water to the bigger population and supported the waiver on water and electricity  for six month.
