NRM Youth Boss Gaddafi, Deputy Party SG Todwong Clash Over Age Limit

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Youth League Chairman, Gaddafi Nassur and the party’s Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong are involved in a war of words over the controversial Age Limit bill.

On the 3rd of this month, Gaddafi issued a letter inviting NRM youth league delegates to an “extra ordinary conference” next Friday to among other things discuss the proposed amendment of Article 102(b).

However, in response, Todwong revealed that the secretariat had nothing to do with Gaddafi’s meeting.

Todwong

“The National Resistance Movement Secretariat informs our members of the Youth League generally and specifically the delegates to the proposed National Delegate’s Conference that the Secretariat is neither involved in the organization of nor has the Secretariat been consulted or informed about the said delegate’s conference,” Todwong’s October 16 letter read in part.

On Thursday, a furious Gaddafi attacked Todwong accusing him of being ‘idle without any sensible assignments to execute’ adding that the SG should stop being ‘used by a few sycophants in State House who in the long run don’t harbor any good intentions for the NRM party, President Museveni and our country at large.”

Gaddafi also Todwong that article 49(4) of the NRM constitution gives organ chairpersons the authority to call Extra Ordinary conferences on any matter without in any way requiring them to involve, consult or invite the secretariat.
