Museveni Appoints Brigadier Dick As New DRC Defence Advisor

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has made changes in the Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF) leadership.

According to a statement from the defence ministry, in the new changes, the President has appointed Brigadier Dick Prit Olum as the country’s Defence Advisor in Kinshasa in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

Brig Olumu will be replacing Brig. Geoffrey ‘Taban’ Kyabihende who passed away in early August this year.
Brig Dick Olum, has been the Commanding Officer of the 3Division based in Moroto, since April 2015.

Brigadier Richard Otto

He also served as the commander of the UPDF contingent in Somalia from June 2013 to November 2014.

Brigadier Richard Otto is now the new 3 Division Commander

Brig Otto has been UPDF’s Contingent Commander of the African Union Regional Task Force (AU-RTF) and is credited for defeating LRA in Central African Republic.

Colonel Omero Tingira Irumba

Meanwhile, Colonel Omero Tingira Irumba has been sent to Khartoum as a Defence Adviser from Somalia where he has been a Defence Attache. He previously served as the UPDF’s Director of Counter Terrorism. He is replaced by Brigadier Joseph Lucky Kidega who leaves 1st Division command to become the new Defence Adviser in Mogadishu somalia.
