Police in Kampala is investigating a case in which a UK based consultancy firm defrauded Meera Investments a huge sum of money amounting to Shs2.5bn.
It is understood that FBW Group, an engineering firm was contracted by Meera Investments to give consultancy in the construction of Speke Apartments Wampeewo and the extension of Kabira Country Club.
It is reported that Meera Investments approached FBW in 2012 and the two signed a contract for the construction of Speke Apartments Wampeewo and the extension of Kabira Country Club.
Meera is reported to have gave FBW an upfront payment of Shs1bn for the construction of Speke Apartments and Shs1.4bn for the construction that was aimed at extending Kabira Country Club.
However, Kabira Country Club extension has not kicked off as per the agreement.
It is further reported that Meera investments has for long asked for architectural work from FBW so that work could kick off but they have always turned a deaf ear.
A case of fraud was filed by Meera Investments at Katwe Police Station under reference number GEF:131/2019

It is one of the companies under the Ruparelia Group of companies. Meera investments has built a reputation for delivering innovative solutions in the construction of commercial and residential structures throughout the country.
Today Meera investment takes on the role of main contractor for small to medium size projects and performs project management services to coordinate specialist trades for industrial/ commercial and residential projects.
