Job Seekers Tipped On How To Pass Interviews With Ease

An interview is usually an opportunity for candidates to showcase their skills, experience and suitability for a particular job/post.

Whether or not a candidate passes an interview is determined by several factors including their preparedness, how they present themselves, confidence levels and the relevance of their answers.

However, hundreds miss out on job opportunities due to poor preparations, a few errors and poor communication skills.

Andrew Kaggwa, a Communication Specialist and Lecturer at Global Institute of Information and Technology notes that all an employer needs is a confident employee who can express themselves with ease while not passing off as annoying or over confident.

He says some candidates act shy while others cannot explain a simple matter.

“There is no way you can hire such a person even with their First Class degree and leave one with a second upper who can express themselves well. Every employer looks for someone who will take their business to another level by addressing certain issues and challenges with confidence and have ability to make bold decisions,” Kaggwa said.

He made the remarks on Friday following the introduction of an interview programme at Global Institute of Information and Technology with the aim of acquainting their students with skills of passing job interviews with ease.

According to Kaggwa, it is more or less of a youth mentorship program.

“Before a serious panel of interviewers, preparation is very important. Listening skills, body language are all important part of interviews. It is not about how long you spend with the panel, but question approach and the dress code is very important,” he said.

According to Geoffrey Dhizala, the Academic Registrar of Global Institute of Information and Technology, over 300 students will graduate out of this training from the 3rd session/ intake.

He noted that the education system has a great impact on the personality of any student.

“I suggest we should start training students earlier in their areas of interest,” he advised.
