Gov’t: All Civil Servants’ Salaries Have Been Paid

Government has paid all the salaries of civil servants, the State Minister of Finance -General Duties, Henry Musasizi, has said.

The Minister made the remarks while appearing before the parliamentary committee on National Economy today to table a loan request of Shs1.7 trillion to be acquired from the standard chartered bank of UK.

During the interface with MPs,  the Upper Madi Member of Parliament, Isaac Etuka asked the minister to explain why they had failed to pay salaries of government workers and wondered if it was because the government was broke.

Musasizi in response informed MPs that as far they are concerned all salaries have been paid and says the problem of the unpaid salaries stems from accounting officers who are struggling to catch up with the upgraded IFIMS system.

He maintains that funds for salaries were released.
