Five People Including Police Officer Arrested For Allegedly Clobbering Businesswoman At Katuna Border

Uganda Police Force have arrested five people including a policeman at Katuna border to assist with investigations regarding an alleged hammer attack that left Kellen Rwengabo Tibehenderwa, a prominent business woman fighting for her life.

Brian Ampeire, a Senior Superintendent of Police and District Police Commander Kabale district in South Western Uganda, told local media that Henry Byamukama, a policeman attached to Katuna border police station has been transferred to Kampala City as a suspect.

Kellen Rwengabo Tibehenderwa 65 a prominent business woman at Katuna border survived a hammer attack that has left her in comma for a month when unknown assailants forced their way into her shop.

On 3rd October, 2019 at 10pm, Kellen Rwengabo was found in a pool of blood by her neighbors who heard her fight for her life in the half closed shop.

“Kellen had wished her neighbors good night at around 8 pm as she rushed to close the door of her shop only to find unknown assailants who hit her several times and took millions of shillings. One of the neighbors while closing her shop heard the unusual sound, on opening the door she first fell unconscious seeing the old lady in a pool of blood”.

Police rushed at the shop transferring Kellen to Rugarama hospital and later Kampala city where she has been getting treatment.

Police has been following leads until Criminal Investigators from Kampala assisted by Kabale Police arrested one of their own.

“We have four suspects Henry Byamukama a policeman, Glorius Kyomugisha a girlfriend to the police officer, Brian Tibaremwa, Alex Byamukama and Sunday son of Kezekia, they have been transferred to Kampala for further management”.

SP Brian Ampeire said the arrested are on file number SD/KLE/1533/19 CRB. Kellen Rwengabo Tibehenderwa who survived the hammer attack has moved into her Kampala home where the family members lived before the attack
