Don’t Eat School Fees Money During Festive Season-Archbishop Kaziimba

The head of the Anglican Church in Uganda, Archbishop Stephen Samuel Kaziimba (pictured) has urged Ugandans not to eat up school fees for their children during the festive season.

He has also urged them to reduce on their expenditure so as to secure the future of their loved ones by taking them back to school in February 2023.

Kaziimba made the plea in his Christmas message writing, “I urge all families to reduce their spending this Christmas a little, so you have enough to pay school fees in January. Inflation is still very high and it is pinching all of us. Be wise about how you spend at Christmas!”

Following the outbreak of Ebola virus, the Ministry of Education ordered educational institutions to cut short their learning time as a measure to prevent the spread of the deadly virus and most schools are expected to resume studies in February 2022, but the resumption of studies has on some occasions been faced with lack of funds amongst some families.

Still in his message, Kaziimba expressed condolences to families that lost their loved ones during 2022 especially to deadly viruses like Covid and Ebola, as well as senseless road accidents, to crime, and to preventable diseases.

He wrote, “I extend my sincerest sympathies to all those families who will have an empty place as you gather for Christmas dinner. Please look to Jesus- he is a “Wonderful Counselor!”

The Anglican Church also extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Health, Health Care Providers, and, especially, community leaders in the Ebola-affected areas for the dedication and cooperation in the fight against ebola in Mubende and Kasanda Districts. The Archbishop also alerted students, parents, and teachers of what he termed “bad people” trying to attract children into homosexuality by promising them money and sponsorship. Children – please report such people to your Head Teacher and to your parents and called on Government to put in place mechanisms to allow children report these people to the relevant authorities for investigation.

Kaziimba also retaliated the position of Church of Uganda regarding homosexuality and warned Church of England against endorsing homosexuality writing, “We don’t support fornication; we don’t support adultery; and, we don’t support homosexuality. There are rumours that the Church of England will soon vote to provide some form of blessings for homosexual relationships. We are grateful for the Church of England who gave us the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But, we will never follow you in supporting homosexuality. You may be the “Mother Church,” but let’s be clear that such a decision will mean you have abandoned the very faith of Anglicanism you so generously shared around the world. You may still be the Church of England, but you will no longer be Anglican, because Anglicans uphold the Bible.”

According to Church of Uganda, the theme for 2023 is “United for service and growth.” This is taken from Ephesians 4:11-16.
