The Electoral Commission has suspended with immediate effect political campaigns in Kampala and other major towns in Uganda categorized as “High Risk” in spread of Coronavirus.
This was revealed by the Electoral Commission spokesperson Mr Paul Bukenya, on Saturday.
He said the Commission has suspended campaign meetings in districts/cities categorized by Ministry of Health as having high spread of Covid19.
“From 26/12/20, no campaign meetings will be held in Mbarara, Kabarole, Luwero, Kasese, Masaka, Wakiso, Kabarole, Jinja, Kalungu, Kazo, Kampala & Tororo,” Mr Bukenya said.
The development comes as presidential hopefuls prepare for the climax of the campaign process that will culminate in general polls on 14 January 2021.
