The Bank of Uganda (BoU) has urged members of the public to carefully handle, prudently preserve, and appropriately use the national currency.
BoU says it has learnt of a purported notice to the public titled “MISUSE OF MONEY” quoting the date “Wednesday 2nd February 2023”, among others, that is circulating electronically among the public.
“The BoU did not issue that purported notice. The BoU cautions the public against circulation of that unauthorized notice. The BoU is committed to maintaining the integrity of Uganda’s currency notes and coins,” BoU says, adding: “The BoU urges members of the public to carefully handle, prudently preserve, and appropriately use the national currency.”
