Simba Cement Sales Manager, Edna Agwata
Simba Cement has introduced Simba Cement 32.5N CEM II, which is designed for civil works, including large-scale projects like apartments and shopping malls. It is especially suitable for producing precast items such as pavers, culverts, and curbs.
In an engagement with the media on Monday morning at the Fairway Hotel in Kampala, the company’s sales manager, Edna Agwata, said that the product takes into account the need for more housing units, among other infrastructural developments, in the country. “We are seeing population growth, which requires affordable housing units,” Agwata said, adding the Simba Cement has over the years developed capacity to meet the demand. “The product is of high quality, affordable, and doesn’t compromise on the quality.”
Other products include, Simba Cement 32.5R CEM IV is a rapid-strength cement ideal for all general-purpose applications such as housing and building construction, concrete work, and domestic repairs. According to Agwata, the quick-drying formula ensures fast curing, which translates into time and cost savings during construction. Simba Power 42.5N is the other product. Agwata says that “This is the preferred choice for heavy-duty projects like bridges, roads, and high-rise buildings.”
“With its high clinker content and superior compressive strength, this grade of cement meets the demands of engineers and contractors for reliable performance under intense pressures,” said Agwata.
Agwata emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining competitive pricing amidst rising operational costs.
“Our proximity to raw material sources plays a crucial role in our pricing strategy. The newly commissioned clinker plant, which is very near our Tororo plant, ensures logistical efficiency, reduced transport costs, and an overall lower carbon footprint. This efficiency allows us to continue offering affordable cement without compromising quality,” she noted.
Agwata says Simba Cement’s research and development team is focused on continuous product innovation. “We have recently introduced Simba Cement CEM II, a product specifically developed to meet the growing demand for high-strength cement in civil works and infrastructure projects,” noted Agwata. “As Uganda’s construction industry evolves, Simba Cement is well-positioned to provide advanced solutions that align with market needs.”
Simba Cement recently boosted its operations after setting up arguably one of the region’s largest clinker manufacturing plants in West Pokot, Kenya.
