Amos Lugoloobi, the State Minister for Planning prepares to read the 2021/22 budget
Government through Ministry of Finance has tabled before Parliament a supplementary Budget worth Shs3.819 trillion to fund the newly created Cities, Town councils and sub counties.
Amos Lugolobi, the State Minister for Planning tabled the motion seeking for extra funding on Thursday, noting that the need for a supplementary budget came after Government exceeded the 3% of the total approved budget for the financial year that Government can spend without seeking approval of Parliament.
According to Minister Lugoloobi, the Shs1.343 trillion was spent
before authorization by government, while the Shs2.476 trillion is what government wants to have Parliament approved, bringing the total to Shs3.819 trillion.

Committees-in this case being Committee of Public Service and local government to have an input into the supplementary budget, saying the money is needed urgently and instead have budget Committee scrutunise the supplementary bill and report back to parliament within 10days.
Ministry of Finance has already presented before Parliament three supplementary budgets that are yet to be scrutunised by the Committees.
