A group of disgruntled members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party have formed an association called ‘Unhappy NRM.’
According to reports from the party, the group was started by members following the recent NRM primaries.
Just over a month ago, the party held primary elections to determine flag bearers for different posts as the country heads into general elections next year.
The elections were marred with irregularities that left many party members disgruntled.
As a result, some have created factions, saying the party has abandoned them and are calling on the President Yoweri Museveni who is also the party chairman to hear them out.
The ‘Unhappy NRM’ has printed T-shirts, posters and banners to project their grievances with the party.
In Gomba, where there was chaos during the polls, party faithful who are part of the group say Museveni should address their complaints.
They add that a number of unfulfilled pledges have forced them into forming the group.
Sources say the group could switch to the opposition or create their own party if NRM continues to leave many of its pledges unfulfilled.
Gomba and Butambala are some of the areas where the group sprouted but sources say it is spreading like wildfire since they feels neglected with unfulfilled pledges.
They also argue that Museveni and the party have instead resorted to the likes of Full Figure where money is spent leaving out cadres.
