Uganda Records 299 COVID-19 Recoveries As Total Cases Surpass 700

Uganda’s COVID-19 recoveries have increased to 299, Ministry of Health has said.

According to Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa (pictured), the Director General Health Services at Ministry of Health, 9 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed from samples tested on 14 June 2020.

“The total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Uganda are 705. Total COVID-19 recoveries are 299,” Mwebesa said in a statement.

Four of the confirmed cases are truck drivers while five are alerts and contacts of the previously confirmed cases, the Ministry said.

It added that 37 foreign truck drivers tested positive and were handed over to their respective countries of origin.

In a related development, Dr. Mwebesa said on Saturday 13th June, a Kenyan truck driver, who was sleeping on his mat under his truck in Busia district was found dead.

The Ministry added that the deceased had tested negative to COVID-19 prior to his death and a re-tested also turned out negative.

Mwebesa reiterated that Uganda has up to-date not registered any COVID-19 related death.

    The pandemic is still here if we don’t adhere to the directives given by the ministry of health but again people are dying of hunger yet the government is concentrating on covid 19
