The ongoing Shs6bn oil handshake probe by the Parliamentary Committee on Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) continues to unearth shocking secrets.
Appearing before COSASE on Thursday, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi shockingly revealed that she regrets taking over KCCA’s top job.
Musisi was responding to a question put to her by Sheila Mwine, the Kiruhura district Woman MP, who tasked her to explain why she went ahead to partake the presidential handshake yet she had already been rewarded with KCCA job.
Musisi was formerly a Commissioner Legal and Board Affairs at Uganda
Revenue Authority until 2011 when she left to join KCCA where she earns a monthly salary of over Shs40M.
However, Musisi protested the claim, noting that giving her KCCA job wasn’t a reward.
“Definitely it is far from the reward. It is not something I would have wanted to do if I had the choice. But again, because I love my country and I wanted to make a difference, I decided to make the sacrifice,” Musisi said.
However, Bugweri County MP, Abdu Katuntu asked why she accepted the job in the first place if she didn’t want it. Musisi responded: “Had I known what this job involves at the time the President asked me to take it up, I would have declined.”
Katuntu pressed harder asking Musisi if she preferred a simpler job, to which she replied: “I would have preferred to be self-employed.”
President Yoweri Museveni appointed Musisi in 2011 and renewed her three year contract on February 2014. The new contract is supposed to run up to April 2017. Musisi’s six year reign at KCCA has been marred with endless quarrels between her and Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago.
