90% of Ugandan Children ‘Recruited Into Homosexuality’

Uganda’s Ethics Minister Simon Lokodo is well-known for his pronouncements on homosexual and heterosexual sex, as well as what he believes are appropriate ways to dress.

On Tuesday, Uganda’s parliament had been debating the safety of children and, in a tweet that’s been retweeted on the official Uganda parliament’s Twitter account, the minister appears to have said that the large majority of children become homosexual in school.

This news comes on the heels of reports that parents want TV programs scrapped.

A few days after Multi Choice dropped some from programs from children’s television channels, parents want Uganda Communications Commission-UCC to censor and regulate the content on Ugandan Television Channels.

Last month, Multi Choice dropped six programs aired on its three premier children channels including Nickelodeon, Nicktoons and Cartoon Network. The suspension followed a petition by parents to the Kenyan Film Classification Board about the six programs Loud House, Legend of Kora, Hey Arnold, Steven Universe, Adventure Time and Clarence, saying promote homosexuality.

Last week, Tina Wamala, the Public Relations Officer, Multi Choice Uganda told local news agency URN that they suspended the programs because of the complaints from viewers. “Multichoice takes pride in complying with the laws and jurisdiction of every country where we operate in because we are a family oriented brand and we want to promote proper family values that are in society.

Some parents want UCC to take charge, saying some of the content aired on local TV channels isn’t ideal for children and adult viewers.

Faith Nakkandi, a mother of one, says most of the soaps being aired on local TVs promote the homosexual agenda in Uganda. Patricia Nakondde, a parent of four, says some of the programs are not educative and only promote homosexuality and magic.
