About 150 Ugandans living in Schengen countries have converged at Novotel hotel in Amsterdam, Netherlands to discuss investment in agriculture.
URA is fully engaged in the convention. We have set up a hub to facilitate participants with tax services and information.
In a presentation on the performance of agriculture and the tax incentives available in the sector , URA Manager Public and Corporate Affairs , Ian Rumanyika has urged Ugandans to seize the opportunities availed by these incentives to make Ugandan agriculture much more productive.
“Government would like this sector to grow and generate more revenue since it employs close to 70% of the entire population,” said Mr. Rumanyika.
The Government has subsidised over 95% of Agric inputs with Tax incentives to fulfill that commitment to grow the sector.
It is however imperative to note that while the Agriculture sector contributes over 25% to GDP , it contributes less than 1% to Tax revenue.
The convention is graced by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga who called for more investment by Ugandans in the diaspora.
URA is being represented by the Public and Corporate Affairs duo of Ian Rumanyika and Robert Wamala Lumanyika as well as Jackie Kasaka from the Customs department.
The convention is an annual fixture which brings together Ugandans who live in Netherlands and the Schengen countries.
