Despite only two weeks to the start of the second round of the Uganda Premier League, the fixtures have not been released.
The Uganda Premier League CEO, Bernard Bampaire Bainamani has stated that the fixture delay was due to CAF, who only released their calendar for the CAF Champions League last week.
Those fixtures affect all games that involve Uganda’s representatives KCCA FC.
“We could not release the fixtures in time because CAF took so long to release the full fixtures,” Bainamani said.
He confirmed however that all is set for the February 10 kick off.
Uganda’s football has always been caught in the dilemma of short termism something that has affected effective planning.
Bainamani confirmed that the fixtures, which are managed by an automated system, will be released next week.
But the delay could be helpful to teams that are trying to hve their squads ready after massive recruitments in pre-season. Those include Masavu FC, KCCA and Express.
16-time record champions, SC Villa, lead the standings with 32 points.
