Uganda Airlines staff crowned Customer Service Week in style
Uganda’s national carrier, Uganda Airlines has honored its customers , rewarding them for Flying The Crane.
Uganda Airlines staff on Friday wore traditional attire and served customers with passion and diligence.
Doreen Nambatya Mulindwa, the Acting Sales and Marketing Manager said that Friday crowned a week-long customer service related honors given it is the Customer Service Week, an international celebration of the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis. The day is marked every October 4, and the whole week is dedicated to honoring clients.
This year’s celebration was under the theme, ‘The Power of Service’.
Nambatya described the day as special, which day coincided with Saturday being Uganda’s 59th anniversary.
“It’s a special day. It has been a customer service week. It has been such a busy week. So, we celebrated ours yesterday and today. It also happens that tomorrow is our country’s 59th Independence anniversary. That’s why you have seen us have a good time with our clients, share presents with them and offer them exceptional services,” she told us last Friday.
One client had an upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class.
“We also managed to give an upgrade to one of our passengers,” Nambatya revealed without naming the lucky traveler for their privacy.
However, she says that the honor to clients of Uganda Airlines was syndicated in Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Bujumbura and other carrier’s offices across the region, South Africa and in Dubai.
“This has been done even at the airport and our offices across the board. We were able to wear our traditional clothes,” she told us in an exclusive interview.
Justifying honoring the customers, Nambatya says that: “Customers make Uganda Airlines. They support us. They make us stay afloat. They are our bosses. We treasure them. We strive to give them our best and take care of their needs as well.”
She appealed to Ugandans to be patriotic and Fly the Crane. “Be patriotic. Fly Uganda airlines, build Uganda. Support your airline, grow your thing. Fly Uganda Airlines, build Uganda. You are building your own. We should be proud of our brand. Let’s support it. Let’s be proud of it,” Nambatya said.
It is a good move.
