Two Umeme Workers Electrocuted To Death

Umeme workers in the field disconnecting power thieves

Two Umeme workers were electrocuted to death while repairing UMEME line at WANTONI, Mukono District, today, Police have confirmed.

The deceased are Moses Kasita, a stores assistant at UMEME Uganda, and Jacob Mutalaga, 28, also a UMEME official.
The incident happened at around 11:45am.
“A team of detectives have visited the scene and started the investigations.
The body of Kasita Moses was found at the scene in a UMEME van registration number UAZ 704Q and while that of Mutalaga Jacob was at Mukono International Hospital,” SP Patrick Onyango, the PRO Kampala Metropolitan Police said in a press release.

He added that Police preliminary findings indicate that the deceased were putting on UMEME attires before the incident but were undressed immediately after the electrocution.
“Uniforms for the deceased persons recovered from the UMEME truck number UAA 286E. One of uniform had the name KASITA MOSES.
There was no physical injuries observed on the bodies. They were taken to Mulago City mortuary for postmortem as investigation continues,” he added.
