The in charge of Kigandalo Health Center IV Dr Ibrahim Gwaruka (in featured photo) was last night gunned down by unknown assailants outside his home in Bulubandi village, Nakigo Sub County, Iganga district, URN reports.
Gwaruka was shot six times in the head by two men, riding on a motorcycle who surrounded him outside his gate where he had packed in a Premio registration number UAR 893N. The other occupant in the car, a yet to be identified woman, was not shot but collapsed as a result of shock and is currently admitted at Iganga general hospital.
Gwaruka’s body was taken to Iganga General Hospital mortuary for postmortem. However, police have condoned off the scene of the crime and a heavy security apparatus is evident in the village.
Busoga East Police Spokesperson James Mubi confirms the incident and adds that investigations are ongoing. “It is sad that unknown gun men shot dead, one of our very own but our detectives are on the ground to investigate the possible leads to the suspects,” he said.
Mubi adds that security has been tightened at all border points in and out of Iganga district.
