The Ugandan army has said its soldier who shot dead three revellers in a Gulu bar has been arrested and investigations surrounding the incident have already commenced.
According to a statement issued by the army spokesperson, Brigadier Richard Karemire, the UPDF 4 Division Commander Brig Emanuel Kanyesigye caused the immediate arrest of Lance Corporal Odaga Geoffrey the Soldier, who last night misused his weapon in an unlawful shooting.
“This incident which led to the death of three revellers in a bar at Kabedopong in Gulu is very regrettable.
Investigations have however commenced by a team of UPDF and Uganda Police Force into the circumstances surrounding this incident,” Karemire said in a statement.
He added: “Our condolences and sympathies go to the families of the victims as we condemn the action of the soldier. The gun used has also been recovered and exhibited by the investigators.”
