Kampala Parents’ School (KPS) has held a thanksgiving service to thank God and celebrate the 2019 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) stellar performance.
The Bukoto based school registered 172 First Grades while 54 passed in Second Division.
According to the breakdown of First Grades, 15 scored 4 aggregates, 16 had five aggregates and 22 candidates got six aggregates.
The school was number six countrywide in as far as candidates who scored 4s are concerned.
Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony held at KPS today, Rev Canon Michael Mukhwana, the Vicar at St. Andrews Church, Bukoto said that KPS has a partnership with the Church and it was great for the school to organize the party to recognize and celebrate success.
He attributed the performance to God’s hand.
“I am so glad that the school could organize this (the party and thanksgiving) for the children and parents to able to celebrate the victory that God gave them. It is very important that we celebrate our victory,” Mukhwana said, adding: “Even we when we celebrate, it’s important that we recognize that victory comes from the Lord.”
He added that the management of the school is focused and intentional.
“They balance both the academics and the social life of the child which is a beautiful thing. We also have an opportunity to do ministry here and I count that very special.”
He said other schools should also give back like KPS did by inviting children and parents to a sumptuous meal and entertainment.
Rajiv Ruparelia, a director at KPS thanked the children for the seven dedicated years. He attributed the good performance to a combination of efforts from management, parents, children and the teachers.
“You have embarked on a new journey. Keep yourselves positive. Keep the great KPS spirit and when you join your new secondary schools, keep all the positive things Kampala Parents’ School taught you. Go become a Kampala Parents’ School ambassador,” Rajiv said, adding that the school will introduce more co-curricular activities this year.
He concluded by thanking KPS Principal, Daphine Kato, teachers and parents for maintaining KPS a top school in the country.
Promising young musician Patrick Ssenyonjo known by his stage name Fresh Kid thrilled the guests with his songs. Fresh Kid is also a pupil at KPS.
Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) released 2019 PLE results last Friday at Kampala Parents’ School and the event was presided over by First Lady and Education Minister, Janet Museveni.
Dan Odong, the UNEB Executive Secretary said a total of 695,804 candidates from 13,475 centers sat the PLE in 2019. 473,893 accounting for 68.2 per cent were from Universal Primary Education (UPE) while 221,912 accounting for 31.8 per cent were from private centres.
He revealed that at least 69,243 (10.1 percent) of the pupils who sat last year’s PLE passed in division one.
318,155 passed in second grade while 140,420 passed in third grade.
A total of 89,332 passed in the fourth Division while that 66,152 candidates were ungraded.
